Dairy Farmers of Britain were placed into receivership on Wednesday, 3 June 2009. NACO is deeply disappointed at this development and will be representing and supporting NACO members through this difficult period. It is hoped that for the foreseeable future the business will operate as normal. The receiver (PricewaterhouseCoopers) is currently actively looking for buyers. It is, however, unlikely that the whole business will be bought as one single entity. We expect that the business will be split into smaller units and bought by a number of buyers. Whilst Dairy Farmers of Britain is in receivership existing terms and conditions will remain as they are. This includes any banked holiday pay. When buyers are found, NACO will be working to ensure that terms and conditions are transferred to any new employer under TUPE (which is the Transfer of Undertakings [and Protection of Earnings] Regulations 2006). NACO will be doing all we can to protect as many jobs as possible. If, however, there are redundancies NACO will seek guarantees that our members receive the redundancy pay they are entitled to. If buyers cannot be found, the business will be forced to close down. NACO will do everything we can to save as many jobs as possible and we will be working to protect existing pay and other terms and conditions. Further information will be provided in due course. |
